Event Planning Internship, Spring 2019

Local Event Planning Internship for Saratoga/Walking Distance to Campus Calling all event planners!
Saratoga's Downtown Business Association is seeking Spring 2019 interns to assist with planning and executing one of the city's biggest annual events of the year: The Victorian Street Walk.
Featuring numerous performers and activities throughout the evening, the Victorian Street Walk- held the first Thursday in December- is a Saratoga Springs tradition that brings 25000 visitors to downtown every year. The event is led by the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association-- restaurateurs, retail merchants, services providers, and hoteliers that aim to collectively promote downtown Saratoga.
Here's how interns can contribute this Fall:
- Assist in researching potential performers, vendors, and activities, and share ideas with the event organizers
- Create a design for the annual Victorian Streetwalk Stamp-- a tradition for many who bring their holiday cards to the post office during the event
- Observe working with the city for permitting and transportation
- Network and develop contacts for securing talent, plus build relationships with area schools
- Assist with marketing of the event
- Project management; there are numerous details to the event, and interns will have the opportunity to lead and manage areas of interest
- Bring creative ideas and execution to get streetwalk visitors into stores (members of the Association) beyond Broadway
 
Qualifications:
- Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors
- Graphic design and social media experience helpful but not necessary
- Strong business and marketing sense
- Students interested in consulting are encouraged to apply
- Personable, and able to work professionally with those involved in the event
 
This internship is available for-credit only. Depending on interest, more than one internship may be offered.
