Energy Engagement Intern

In 2007, USU committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Achieving this goal requires more than efficient buildings and renewable energy. Well-designed systems require active users. The mission of the energy engagement intern is to engage employees and students in energy and resource conservation, so USU becomes a healthier place to learn and work for present and future Aggies.

The intern in this position will coordinate the Energy Wars competition to reduce energy use. This person will also recruit for and run the Green Office Program. Other duties include sitting on the Sustainability Council and coordinating with other members of the Student Sustainability Corps. This internship is highly self-directed with the exceptional opportunity to learn the university structure and partner with other Student Sustainability Corps members on projects.

Successful applicants will:
  • Communicate well verbally and in print.
  • Have strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excel in self-directed independent situations or in a group.
  • Possess basic knowledge and interest in resource use, conservation, and sustainability.
  • Operate comfortably in a situation requiring frequent cold calling and interpersonal interactions.
This is a 300-hour AmeriCorps position, which averages to 10-12 hours per week over the academic year. AmeriCorps members will receive a total of $2,229 in living allowance divided over service and $1230 in an education award upon completion.
