Student Assistant
Time: 5-10 hours per week. Pay: $13.00-$15.00/hour. Must be able to make a full quarter commitment, with the possibility for extension. Ideal start date is September 2018.
This is an opportunity for enthusiastic and engaged students to receive meaningful non-profit experience and a “behind the scenes” look at a growing and well-connected organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Assistant will provide project and general support to the Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation. Duties include but are not limited to:
Drafting social media posts and Medium articles.
Making updates to the Center website.
Conducting research related to the programs and initiatives in the Blum Center.
Preparing and disseminating various marketing materials e.g. facilitation of email blasts, hanging posters on campus, etc.
Assisting with special events, as needed.
Conduct initial outreach to potential partners.
Working on various projects related to all aspects of the Center.
Qualifications
Must be a current UCI Undergraduate student. Work study students are encouraged to apply.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong detail orientation.
Strong internet research skills.
Ability to think creatively and work well in a multi-tasked environment.
Ability to maintain excellent attendance and be prompt
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; faculty, students, etc., both verbally and in writing.
Office work experience (desirable but not required).
Intermediate or better proficiency in using MS Office applications (i.e. excel and word), Wordpress, Buffer, Mailchimp, etc. (desirable but not required).
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and take initiative.
Proven record of maintaining confidentiality.
Interest in poverty related issues and past engagement with Blum Center events and courses preferred!
