Media Acquisition Intern
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acquires and evaluates media (mostly photos, but may include audio
and video) for projects, including the use of media as primary sources in
curriculum products. Responsibilities include research, selection, and
placement of media. Verifies that subject matter is accurately and
adequately identified.
- Possesses an artistic “eye” for content
selection and cropping of images. Intermediate skills in Adobe PhotoShop
to perform color correction (curves, levels, color balance) and sharpening.
- Works with Media Asset Management to
ensure that media and permissions are properly archived.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
Working toward a BA in art history, photography, graphic design, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Two years relevant education or work experience in photo editing or design; caption writing skills helpful.
Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to judge technical and esthetic quality of media material. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and research skills. Proficiency in Adobe PhotoShop. Working knowledge, or the ability to learn quickly, Britannica’s CMSs and suites of Microsoft, Google, etc. products.
Applicant will report to Kathy Nakamura and Mary Rose McCudden. Applicant will be provided with a space to work and equipment.
