Administrative Assistant

This position is of an administrative and lab assistant. This is NOT a research position. You will be assisting Dr. Craig Montell and lab manager in variety of tasks. This job is for someone who is ready for challenges and enthusiastic about learning and performing variety of tasks. Preferred work study candidate.

You should be able to handle multiple tasks in a given time. This job requires you to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with good problem solving and finishing the task on time. You will require having a professional demeanor and being conscientious about the performing the tasks given to you. You are required to provide advance notices (2 week) to the lab manager and professor about your change in schedule, exception being an emergency. No last minute changes to the schedule will be accepted. You are expected to work independently once properly trained. You should not be required to micromanaged. Must be able to work all academic days, including summer break (both session A & B) and throughout next school year. Must work for at least 2 hours everyday.

Job Duties include (bot not limited to): lab orderings, preparing word/excel documents for professor as per their directions, event organizing, collecting packages and distributing to various lab members, keeping record of all the documentation and paperwork when required, be highly organized and efficient, following up with vendors about delayed/missing orders, being able to aptly handle disgruntled lab member, able to negotiate prices with vendors, filling out reimbursements for lab members, helping lab manager with variety of lab tasks such as making fly food, wrapping food, autoclaving lab waste, throwing trash out, keeping track of schedules of other undergrads, keeping the lab space clean by throwing out trash regularly, making fly traps, performing weekly inventory, cleaning lab equipments etc.
