Summer 2019 in Barcelona, Spain - Internship and Research on European Affairs

The University of Miami European Union “Jean Monnet” Chair is offering an innovative program combining an internship training and individualized research supervision. Available to all undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Miami, it is part of a grant awarded by the European Union. The internship is not paid, but a certificate of expertise will be issued for successful trainees. This experience is highly valued when applying for internships at the EU sites or other private and government employment.

To receive internship credit, candidates must register in one of the European Union Summer courses INS 594, INS 510, INS 656 or INS 605. In addition to following the course, trainees will be placed (depending on personal inclinations and background qualifications) in a selective government, private, non-profit agency or business in Barcelona for a few hours of practical training.

It is expected that the background of the trainee will match the needs and expectations of the governments (the City of Barcelona, the government of Catalonia and the branches of the Spanish government) and/or the non-profit/ private businesses (international trade and transportation, tourism, and media, among others). In any case, students will experience in a practical way the benefits of belonging to the European Union.
The internship training includes drafting a short report resulting in a mini-paper, including data-collecting, documents development, social media, briefings and lecture reporting, as they are usually required in EU-related internships.
