The Arts Leadership Training Program is designed for anyone who is transitioning from college to a career path in theatre and the performing arts. The program offers year-long internship opportunities in artistic direction, dramaturgy and literary management, production and stage management, education, graphic design, communications and social media, and administration.

Program Details
Time Commitment
- Full Season August 13, 2018-June 24, 2019
- Up to 30 hours per week
- Daily office hours between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., some nights and weekends as
needed
- Hours may increase during technical rehearsal weeks and youth performances
Compensation/Supplemental Income
This is an unpaid internship. There are opportunities for supplemental paid work through Front of House, Production or the Education Department for qualified applicants. Hours will be set and remain steady so that interns can acquire outside employment nights and weekends.
Housing
MTC does not provide housing but has affordable furnished housing available for rent in an apartment with shared rooms in a co-ed living environment. Rent is $650 per month and includes utilities, plus a $300 nonrefundable move-in fee.
Required:
- Reliable transportation
(strongly recommended)
- A minimum of three years of college or advanced theatre training post high
school
- B.A./B.F.A or equivalent experience preferred
- Some experience in area of application
Descriptions of Internships
Artistic Direction
The Artistic Direction Internship is designed for individuals who are looking to pursue a career as an artistic director. The position is a well-rounded introduction to how the artistic department functions and how it is led and managed by the Artistic Director. The Artistic Direction Intern will report directly to the Artistic Director, the Literary Manager, and Casting Director. This position requires knowledge and some experience in directing, administrative duties, and computer skills. The Artistic Direction Intern will assist with company-wide projects and events and maintain communication within the Artistic department. The Artistic Direction Intern will assistant direct 1-2 productions in the season, participate in season planning, attend rehearsals and meetings as the Artistic Director’s representative when needed, support artistic programming within the Education department, and support company events as assigned.
