Client Services Specialist — Direct Support Coordination & Field Support

Help people receive dependable support—and build the team that makes it possible.

Ohio At Home supports people with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. We are looking for an organized, responsive Client Services Specialist to coordinate Direct Support, recruit and onboard employees, welcome new clients, and provide hands-on support when coverage is needed.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE

Starting base pay: $27.88 per hour. After satisfactory completion of the first three months and a documented review against the written training and performance standards, your base rate increases to $31.25 per hour and you earn a one-time $800 completion bonus. Time in the role alone does not satisfy the review requirements. The written offer will state the milestones, review date, rate-increase effective date, and bonus payment timing before employment begins.
At 40 hours per week over 52 weeks, the base rates are approximately $58,000 initially ($57,990.40 at the stated hourly rate) and $65,000 after the increase, before shift premiums. Actual hourly earnings depend on hours worked; a 38-hour week pays less than a 40-hour week.
Shift differentials: add 12% of the base hourly rate for weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday), and add 12% of the base hourly rate for evening hours after 5 p.m. When an hour qualifies for both, the two differentials add to 24% of the base rate.
Illustrative rates, rounded to cents: starting base $27.88; evening or weekend $31.23; weekend evening $34.57. After the successful review: base $31.25; evening or weekend $35.00; weekend evening $38.75.
Example 40-hour week: 26 hours of coordination, 4 hours of weekday daytime Direct Support, 2 hours of weekday evening support, 6 hours of weekend daytime support, and 2 hours of weekend evening support. This is 14 field hours (35%). Estimated gross weekly pay is $1,155.35 initially or $1,295.00 after the rate increase. Calculations use unrounded differentials; payroll rounding may vary by a few cents. This illustration excludes taxes, benefit deductions, and the one-time $800 bonus and does not guarantee particular premium hours.
Full-time benefits include accrued PTO of up to 80 hours per year, health-plan eligibility after 90 days subject to plan terms and enrollment, and reimbursement of up to $100 per month for approved wellness expenses with receipts.
Flexible hours or a part-time arrangement may be considered for a qualified applicant when the schedule supports client needs and dependable coordination. Part-time compensation, benefits, bonus terms, workload, and hours will be agreed separately in the written offer.

OFFICE AND FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an in-person role based in Columbus with local travel. Expect approximately 60–70% of your time in coordination, recruitment, and onboarding, and 30–40% in the field providing Direct Support. The balance varies with client needs and staffing. We plan coverage together and preserve time for the coordination and recruitment that build lasting staffing solutions.
This role requires flexible availability and participation in rotating evening and weekend coverage. We plan 38–40 total hours per workweek, targeting 40. Client coverage replaces office coordination hours within the same workweek; it is not added on top of a 40-hour office schedule.
Office coordination blocks and field assignments are agreed with your manager. On agreed regular office days, the start is 8:30 a.m.; early, late, weekend, or off-site assignments may require a different approved schedule. All work time is recorded, including coordination, direct support, required training, documentation, and work-related travel between assignments. Hours actually worked beyond 40 in a workweek are paid at the applicable overtime rate. We will discuss the rotation and any after-hours responsibilities explicitly during hiring.

COORDINATE DIRECT SUPPORT

• Build workable schedules around each person's support plan, preferences, appointments, and authorized services.
• Confirm full shift hours, dates, staff availability, transportation, and handoffs before communicating a final arrangement.
• Verify that accepted arrangements are saved accurately and that clients, families, and staff understand the same plan.
• Identify coverage risks early. Keep clients informed while you work on solutions, including when they can expect the next update.
• Coordinate with the Remote Support lead when changes affect transitions between in-person and remote services.

RECRUIT AND ONBOARD EMPLOYEES

• Turn recurring gaps into specific recruiting priorities: locations, days, hours, and client-related skills.
• Source candidates, respond promptly, coordinate interviews and references, and match verified availability to actual openings.
• Work with leadership on hiring decisions and offers; give each candidate a clear next step and timely follow-through.
• Use our existing onboarding checklists and approved forms to coordinate orientation, account-access requests, secure document collection, and client-specific training.
• Work with HR and trainers to verify readiness before independent assignments. Distinguish proposed placements, accepted offers, training, and ready-to-work status.

WELCOME NEW CLIENTS

• Coordinate intake with clients, families or authorized representatives, service coordinators, and the OAH team.
• Gather current support plans, authorizations, preferences, schedules, and transportation needs.
• Arrange introductions and staff training, resolve open needs, and confirm a prepared service-start plan.
• Follow up after services begin and track concerns through resolution.

PROVIDE DIRECT SUPPORT AND BRIDGE COVERAGE GAPS

• Provide respectful, individualized support with daily routines, community participation, appointments, and activities in each person's plan. Personal-care duties depend on the assignment and completed training.
• Participate in a shared coverage rotation, including temporary assignments and new-client or employee transitions.
• Recruit and prepare the staff who will take over recurring openings you cover. Complete a clear handoff once the incoming employee is ready and the assignment is confirmed.
• Complete accurate service notes and time records for your own assignments and report incidents or changes through required channels.

REQUIRED PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

These are essential responsibilities and the basis of the three-month review. We provide training, clear decision authority, regular feedback, and a documented review. We expect consistent execution and verified follow-through.

• Follow required safety, confidentiality, documentation, and service-plan procedures. Assign independent work only after readiness is verified. Report and address errors or concerns promptly through the appropriate process.
• Start office and client assignments on time. Agree schedule changes in advance and escalate unexpected conflicts promptly.
• Send a brief priorities update within the first 15 minutes of your workday and a completed/open-items update before signing off, during working hours.
• During coordination time, acknowledge requests within 30 minutes and give a completion or next-update time. When driving, providing care, or in a meeting, respond as soon as safe and practical afterward.
• Give every task and staffing gap a next action and follow-up time. Escalate risks early with a recommendation and the specific decision needed. Keep permissible coordination moving while approval is pending, without promising an unapproved arrangement.
• Verify full coverage, staff acceptance, transportation, client communication, and saved schedules. Notify clients when coverage is uncertain and update them at the promised time.
• Mark work complete only after verifying the action and record. Maintain accurate actual time and service documentation; track technical blockers through resolution.
• Respect client choice, dignity, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and approved communication channels.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience in client services, staffing, recruitment, scheduling, human services, or comparable coordination work.
• Demonstrated organization, clear professional writing, and accuracy across multiple people, schedules, and deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to provide hands-on Direct Support regularly and complete required background screening, CPR/First Aid, and role- and client-specific training before independent assignments.
• Confidence with Outlook, Teams, calendars, spreadsheets, scheduling systems, and task trackers, and willingness to learn our tools.
• Reliable travel to the Columbus office and assigned client/community locations. Driving assignments require the applicable license, insurance, and driving qualifications.
• Ability to perform essential coordination and assigned support duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Relevant college coursework or a degree in social work, psychology, human services, public health, healthcare administration, or a related field is valued. Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities, coordinating a mobile workforce, or onboarding employees is especially helpful.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply through Handshake with your résumé and a short response to these two questions:
1. Describe a scheduling or client-service problem you carried through to resolution. How did you keep people informed and verify that it was resolved?
2. What experience prepares you to combine coordination with approximately 30–40% hands-on Direct Support and local travel?
Please include your recurring availability and fixed schedule limits. We will discuss office hours and the coverage rotation before you accept an offer.
