About City Test Prep
City Test Prep is a boutique test prep and academic coaching firm that has been helping students reach their goals since 2005. Our founder, Bara Sapir, began teaching for The Princeton Review before building City Test Prep, and our students have gone on to top high schools, colleges, and graduate and professional programs.

What makes us different is our Full Potential method. We believe test success rests on more than content knowledge. Much like a sports psychologist works with an athlete, we help students build focus, confidence, and calm under pressure alongside the strategies and skills the test demands.

The role
We’re looking for bright, warm, and dependable tutors to work one-on-one with students from middle school through graduate school. Sessions take place online OR in person in [area], either at students’ homes or a local study space, with afternoon, evening, and weekend availability especially valued. Tutors may specialize in one test or work across several.

Tests we support:

  • Middle and high school admissions: ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, HSPT
  • College admissions: SAT, ACT
  • Graduate and professional school: GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT

You will:

  • Lead one-on-one sessions covering content, strategy, and timing
  • Build personalized study plans with guidance from our team
  • Track student progress and share updates with students and families
  • Learn and apply our Full Potential mindset approach in your sessions

What we’re looking for

  • A top-percentile score (roughly 95th percentile or higher) on each test you’d like to teach
  • Strong command of the content for your test(s)
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to connect with students at their level, whether a nervous 7th grader or a career-changing MBA applicant
  • Reliable transportation within [area]
  • Tutoring or teaching experience is a plus but not required. We provide training.

Why join us

  • Flexible hours that fit around your classes or other work
  • Training in a holistic method you won’t find at larger test prep companies
  • Meaningful work helping students grow in confidence, not just scores

To apply: Submit your resume and a short note listing which tests you’d like to tutor, your scores on them, and why you enjoy working with students.
