About the project
Kenya is looking for passionate individuals to help high school students achieve better educational outcomes in STEM.
Kenya is transitioning to a competency- and skills-based curriculum with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), a learning pathway to equips students with relevant knowledge and skills to promote innovation and creativity and to prepare them for modern careers. Studies show STEM performance in rural secondary schools in Nyanza and Western Kenya remains below national averages, with many students scoring low in mathematics and science. Contributing factors include limited qualified teachers, inadequate laboratories, scarce learning materials, and low student confidence. Strengthening teacher training and expanding STEM infrastructure are national priorities.
As a High School STEM Teacher, you will help to bridge the gaps in these schools by sharing your skills, improving teaching strategies, and developing new learning resources. You will help promote student engagement through direct instruction, project- and practical-based learning approaches, and exercises rooted in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Your efforts will help Kenyan students score higher on their tests and embark on STEM careers.
