Workshop Host: Student Discovery Labs

Part-time contractor | $30/hour plus mileage | Weekday evenings and weekends | Apache Junction to Buckeye to Maricopa

Lead hands-on workshops that get kids excited to learn.

Flourish is a growing network of micro schools in greater Phoenix built on project-based learning. Our Student Discovery Labs are free pop-up workshops where kids in grades 3 to 8 try things like Culinary Arts, Forensic Science, and Structural Engineering, and their parents get to see what learning at Flourish looks like.

We're hiring Workshop Hosts to run these events. You'll lead a 60 to 90 minute workshop for a group of kids, then spend about 30 minutes talking with parents about Flourish.

This isn't a teaching job. There are no lesson plans to write and nothing to grade. We give you the full workshop plan, and materials come stocked and ready. Your job is to bring it to life.

What you'll do

  • Run the workshop plan at sites across the Valley, on your own
  • Arrive early, set up, and work with each site's coordinator
  • Keep every kid's hands on the project, and keep the energy up
  • Close each event by talking with parents about Flourish
  • Send the team a quick update after each event

You might be a great fit if you

  • Have led groups of kids, like a camp counselor, coach, youth leader, tour guide, or after-school program leader
  • Bring big energy to a room and can keep 20 kids engaged
  • Are comfortable talking with parents
  • Can solve small problems on your own without waiting for direction
  • Show up on time, every time

College students, recent grads, and anyone else who loves working with kids are welcome to apply.

Requirements

  • Available weekday evenings (6pm starts) and weekends
  • Reliable vehicle and willingness to drive to sites across the Valley
  • No degree required

Pay

  • $30/hour plus mileage
  • Strong hosts are first in line for future roles at Flourish
