Little Scholars is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable Floater/Support Teacher to join our team in the Escondido Union School District!
Your primary assignment will be at Glen View Elementary, supporting our Tastes Around the World program alongside the Lead Teacher. However, as a Floater/Support Teacher, you'll also need to be flexible and willing to provide additional support at nearby schools, Oak Hill Elementary or Farr Elementary, if needed.
Our fall enrichment session is already underway, and we're looking for someone who can step in and help finish out the program. You'll assist with activities, support students, help with transitions, and jump in wherever an extra set of hands is needed.
This is a great opportunity for teachers, education students, graduate students, retired educators, or anyone with experience working with children who is looking for a consistent Thursday afternoon teaching opportunity.
Position Details
- Primary School: Glen View Elementary – Tastes Around the World
- Additional Locations: Oak Hill Elementary and Farr Elementary, as needed
- District: Escondido Union School District
- Location: Escondido, CA
- Pay: $35.00 per hour
- Schedule: Thursdays, 12:45 PM–4:30 PM
- Program Dates: Through December 17
- Student Grades: PK–5th grade
Classes run in three rotations throughout the afternoon:
- 12:45 PM–1:45 PM
- 2:30 PM–3:30 PM
- 3:30 PM–4:30 PM
Time between class rotations is part of the scheduled workday and is not a break. The Floater/Support Teacher may assist with classroom preparation, transitions, activities, student support, or other program responsibilities during this time.
What You'll Do
- Support the Lead Teacher and students throughout the afternoon
- Assist with hands-on activities using curriculum and supplies provided by Little Scholars
- Help with classroom management, student engagement, and transitions
- Provide additional support to students who may need assistance
- Step in to lead activities or portions of a class when needed
- Travel to Oak Hill or Farr Elementary if additional floater support is needed
- Help with classroom setup, cleanup, and other program responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with the Little Scholars team
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
- Available Thursdays from 12:45 PM–4:30 PM through December 17
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Friendly, positive, and enthusiastic
- Passionate about working with children
- Comfortable working with students in PK–5th grade
- Flexible and willing to travel between nearby school locations when needed
- An effective communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching, tutoring, childcare, camp, or other experience working with children preferred
- Classroom or group leadership experience is a plus
- Education or teaching experience is a plus
Successful candidates will be required to complete all necessary background checks and screening requirements before teaching.
