Political Polling Internship
Normington, Petts & Associates, a leading Democratic political polling and consulting firm located in Washington DC, is looking to hire paid ($25/hr) 2027 summer and fall interns. This is an opportunity to work on high profile campaigns and independent expenditures. Interns work in the office in Washington DC. There is not a remote position.
Intern Job Responsibilities:
- Work directly with senior leadership on races
- Learn all components of fielding, programming, weighting, and analyzing polls
- Compile election results in spreadsheets
- Create presentations and data visualizations of polling data
- Program polls using internal software
- Learn all internal processes
- Be part of the team culture
Qualifications:
The ideal intern will possess an interest in politics while being comfortable working with numbers and data files. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, well organized, extremely detail oriented and possess the ability to check one’s own work. They will also be a team player who is comfortable working collaboratively. You must be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with statistics, quantitative methods, and R are a plus. Preference will be given to seniors and recent graduates.
Normington, Petts & Associates offers a unique internship opportunity in that we are a boutique firm where everyone is part of the team. Interns will work directly with the firm’s partners and be exposed to the ins and outs of political polling and campaigns. The amount of responsibility and involvement will be dependent on the skill level and drive demonstrated by the candidate.
This position requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week. We can accommodate most course schedules and will complete necessary paperwork if this internship is being done for credit. Interns will be considered for full-time employment after the semester is complete.
Compensation:
- $25 per hour, minimum of 15 hours per week
- Public transit stipend
