The role
You'll help teenagers build real German language proficiency — not just conjugations and vocabulary drills, but actual confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This position sits at the intersection of language education and cultural understanding, and the work matters: students who study a second language in high school build stronger literacy skills, broader perspectives, and better preparation for what comes next.
What you'll do
Develop curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with educational requirements and applicable regulations.Teach German language and linguistics through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural study; use educational technology and integrated IT lessons where appropriate.Manage the classroom, support positive behavior, communicate with parents, and collaborate with teachers and school staff.Assess learning, support standardized testing as applicable, and provide tutoring, mentoring, and academic guidance.Draw on relevant practices from literacy education, English language arts, journalism, creative writing, social sciences, and mathematics when they support student learning.
About you
High school teaching experience and direct classroom experience with teenagers are important; middle school, private school, or higher education experience is also relevant.Demonstrated strengths in classroom management, lesson planning, curriculum development, instructional design, and adapting to different learning styles.Strong communication, writing, organizational, proofreading, and copy-editing skills; familiarity with AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style is useful.Experience with teacher collaboration, parent communication, learning technology, educational technology integration, special education, or education administration is valued.Additional relevant experience may include AP programs, research, library services, academic advising, Montessori education, and understanding educational compliance and regulation.
