Legal AI Trainer: Attorneys and Law Students
Legal AI Trainer: Attorneys and Law Students (Remote, $40 to $125/hr)
Description:
Put your legal training to work teaching AI. We're looking for attorneys, law clerks and JD and LLM students to help DataAnnotation, the AI training platform, evaluate how AI models handle real legal work: researching an issue, analyzing a fact pattern, drafting a memo or contract clause and citing the right authority. It's fully remote, flexible work you can do around classes, bar prep or a current job, including evenings and weekends.
You'll build realistic legal tasks from your own experience, such as an issue-spotting fact pattern, a research question or a drafting assignment. Then you'll grade how AI models handle them and document exactly where they go wrong: misstated rules, missed issues, made-up case citations, conclusions the law doesn't support.
What we're looking for:
- JD or LLM, or current JD student who has completed the first year; licensed attorneys are a great fit
- Hands-on legal research and writing experience through practice, clerkships, clinics or law review
- Experience in any practice area: litigation, corporate, IP, employment, regulatory, criminal, family or tax
- Comfortable checking citations and explaining the authority behind a conclusion
- Strong written English and familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude
- Based in the US, Canada or UK
Pay and hours: $40 to $125 per hour depending on project and expertise, paid via PayPal. Minimum 10 hours a week on your own schedule. This is an independent contractor role.
How it works: Apply here on Handshake with your resume. If your background is a fit, you'll get a link to an unpaid online skills assessment (about 1 to 2+ hours). Credentials may be verified. Pass it, and you'll complete onboarding and start on paid projects.
Already with DataAnnotation? If you've already taken a DataAnnotation starter assessment, you aren't eligible for this posting. If you only created an account and haven't taken an assessment, you're welcome to apply.
