Math Tutor

Attention all math teachers, math whizzes, and people persons:

A small, personalized tutoring company is looking add someone to their team to work with HS math students (Algebra II, Precalc, Calc (AP and non-AP). Ideal candidate excels at quickly diagnosing math deficits when working with a student, and at sourcing/creating material that addresses those needs. The candidate needs to be adept at explaining concepts in multiple ways with a knack for getting through to visual learners, learners with poor working memory, and students with foundational gaps. Most importantly, the candidate knows how to make strong connections with students in order to generate math interest.

Tutor will be responsible for regularly communicating with caregivers, coordinating their session schedules, and showing up on time every time. Driving required (unreimbursed) to locations throughout Richmond (northside, southside, Chesterfield, west end). Having a laptop and printer is highly recommended. Sessions are in-person only.

Pay starts at $50 per one-hour session. There is no payment for prep time or travel. Basic materials like pencils, markers, paper, graph paper, notebooks, binders, and manipulatives will be provided. This is a payroll/employee position. There will be a background check.

If interested send a quick blurb to admin@dyscalculiamentor.com about why you're a good fit (no AI please!). Qualifying candidates will be invited to meet (yes, it's an interview, but casual), and if they prove highly qualified will be invited to attend a paid trial tutoring session with the director and an existing client.

Please don't respond if you're just looking to make a quick buck for an "easy" job. You must be passionate (like, in love) about math and experience great joy out of getting math concepts through to students who just don't get it. This is a position that takes a lot of thought and effort.
