Arul Health helps patients with serious and chronic illness get the care they need. We use AI tools and human care navigators to do the hard logistics work: scheduling, prior authorizations, insurance problems, rides, and financial aid. We are an early-stage startup at the Harvard Innovation Labs (i-lab) in Allston.
About the role
We are hiring a part-time care navigator. You will speak with patients every day and help them solve problems in the U.S. healthcare system. You will work with our care team and use our AI tools to do this work quickly and well.
What you will do
- Speak with patients by phone, text, and email to understand their needs
- Schedule appointments and coordinate with clinics and providers
- Follow up with insurance companies on coverage, claims, denials, and prior authorizations
- Find and apply for financial aid programs, copay assistance, and rides to care
- Keep clear and accurate notes for each patient
- Give feedback to our product team to make our AI tools better
Required
- Strong communication skills and care for patients and their families
- Good organization and attention to detail
- Ability to keep patient information private and secure (HIPAA)
- Comfort with technology and new software tools
Preferred
- Prior experience with patients, for example in a clinic, hospital, hospice, EMS, medical scribe, patient advocate, community health worker, or volunteer role
- Knowledge of health insurance, prior authorizations, or medical billing
- Interest in medicine, nursing, public health, or social work
