About the RoleA public school 2nd Grade Teacher is responsible for the instruction of students in a general education classroom. This is a foundational role â second grade is where kids solidify early reading and math skills that carry them forward. You'll be responsible for creating a classroom environment where students feel safe, curious, and challenged.
What you'll do- Plan and deliver daily lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies aligned to Indiana state standards- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual needs- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents and guardians- Create a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, special education staff, and school support teams- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development- Follow school and district policies and procedures
About you- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field- Indiana teaching license (or eligibility to obtain one)- Strong foundation in early childhood literacy and math instruction- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners- Clear communicator with students, families, and colleagues
Nice to have- Prior student teaching or classroom experience at the Kâ3 level- Familiarity with Indiana's Academic Standards- Experience with reading intervention programs or structured literacy approaches
