Ag Operations Intern
Hartung Brothers, Inc. is an agribusiness in WI, MI, Ontario, OH and Mexico. Our focus is on wholesale seed corn and cucumber operations. The Ag Operations Intern positions are located in Sturgis, MI.
The Ag Operations Intern is responsible in assisting the Fielding and Harvest Managers on the various operations it takes to grow and manage the cucumber crop from plant to harvest. These operations include but are not limited to planting, cultivation/side dressing, band spraying, irrigation management, pre-grading cucumbers, and harvest operations.
- Operating various pieces of farm equipment including harvesters, tractors, and trucks
- Identify obstacles to daily production goals and communicate to management.
- Continually monitor and report field health, quality concerns or deviations management.
- Sampling crop to determine desired harvest date for maximum yield.
- Aid in the decision-making process surrounding new agricultural business techniques.
- Promote and maintain an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
- Comply with company and customer regulations, reporting and policies.
- Ensure good housekeeping and safe operating procedure of all equipment.
