Professional Development Trainer
This posting is for educators in Bakersfield and the towns around it, like Delano, Shafter, Wasco, and Arvin, who want to train other teachers.
Professional development trainers lead classroom management training days for K-12 schools, in person or by video, and leave teachers with strategies they can use. No one owns a territory, so you can train schools around Bakersfield, online from home, or out of state. The Center for Teacher Effectiveness opened in 1993. Over 400,000 educators in all 50 states have trained with us since.
As a 1099 independent contractor, you won't have guaranteed hours, and the number of trainings varies. A typical training day pays $1,000 or more, and payments go out on Fridays.
Expect most trainings to come from schools you contact, following the outreach approach you learn in certification. Negotiation and the written contract are your National Director's job.
Getting certified takes 36 hours in our virtual Weekend Certification, three days spread over two weekends. Tuition comes with certification, with options for sponsorship or paying over time. Certification is eligible for 4 graduate credits from UMass Global, if you want them. After certification, you'll have orientation, materials, and ongoing support when you need it.
K-12 teachers, coaches, counselors, principals, and other educators, current or former, are welcome to apply. We'd prefer that you hold a bachelor's degree. Students can apply too, provided they intend to complete certification. Most trainers have school jobs and train in the evenings, on weekends, on personal days, and during summers.
