Teacher Development Facilitator, Oakland
Teachers in Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, San Leandro, and Emeryville: we're looking for educators who want to help other teachers build stronger classroom management.
Teacher development facilitators lead classroom management training for K-12 staffs, in the building or online, and guide teachers as they try the strategies. Our training has reached more than 400,000 educators since 1993, with teachers in every state among them.
Pay is typically $1,000 or more per training day, and it's sent every Friday. It's 1099 work with independent contractor status, and no hours are guaranteed. You'll be the one reaching out to schools for most trainings, with an approach taught in certification. Once a school is on board, your National Director writes the contract and works out the terms.
Trainers aren't given territories, so your own district is open to you, and so is the rest of the country. You can keep your school job. Most trainers do, and they train on evenings, weekends, personal days, and over the summer.
Getting certified takes 36 hours in our virtual Weekend Certification, three days spread over two weekends. Tuition applies to certification. Sponsorship is one option, and paying over time is another. Graduate credit is an option too, with 4 credits available through UMass Global. Certification includes orientation and training materials, and support continues after you finish.
Current K-12 educators and retired ones can both apply: teachers, coaches, counselors, principals, and other educators. Having a bachelor's degree is preferred. Students may apply when they plan to complete the certification.
