K-12 Professional Development Trainer, Atlanta
Decatur, Marietta, Sandy Springs, East Point, and Atlanta itself: we're looking for K-12 educators in any of them who want to train teachers.
K-12 professional development trainers lead classroom management training for school staffs, in person or virtually, at elementary, middle, and high schools. More than 400,000 educators have trained with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness since 1993, in all 50 states.
Payday is every Friday, and a typical training day pays $1,000 or more. Expect 1099 independent contractor status and no guaranteed hours. Most trainings are booked through your own outreach to schools, which certification prepares you for. A National Director handles contracts and negotiation on your behalf.
Territories don't exist in this role, so a school down the street and one across the country are both open to you. Most people who do this work are active teachers and administrators, and they train evenings, weekends, personal days, and summers.
First you'd complete the virtual Weekend Certification, three days and 36 hours spread across two weekends, covering the content and then how to present it. There is tuition, and you can cover it with sponsorship or spread it out over time. There's graduate credit available as well: 4 credits through UMass Global. Every certified trainer gets orientation, training materials, and ongoing support.
The people we want are current or former K-12 teachers, principals, counselors, coaches, and other educators. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Applications from students are fine, provided the student plans to complete certification.
