Assistant Director/ Volunteer Coordinator

Mission Statement:

Rust Street Ministries (RSM) is a place for men, women and children living in the San Angelo area who are in need of temporary assistance with basic needs and life skills.  The programs of Rust Street Ministries are designed to contribute to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical needs of the community it serves.

Job Position Responsible to:

Rust Street Ministries Director

Rust Street Ministries Board of Directors and Johnson Street Church of Christ (JSCC) Elders

This position is part of the JSCC ministry team that serves with Senior Minister Scott Allen

Duties and responsibilities 

Reception:

• Welcome neighbors to Rust Street Ministries
• Interview neighbors – assessing their needs
• Supervise reception area; including overseeing maintenance and cleaning
• Answer phone

Administrative:

• Support and assist with the goals of Rust Street Ministries and work with the Director regarding   program development and implementation
• Recruit, Coordinate  and Train Volunteers 
• Acquire resources and materials for operations (shoes, underwear, etc.)
• Produce correspondence with donors  in a timely manner
• Communicate with the church offices, schools and other public and private groups regarding        volunteer and resource needs of RSM and calendar related information
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word (Donation tax letters, memorial/honoree             acknowledgments, monthly support letters), Excel(Monthly activity report, Bike report, etc.)
• Knowledge of and interaction with other Concho Valley Agencies that help our neighbors
• Assist Director in supervising and interacting with the Neighbors that come in for assistance
• Supervise and provide documentation for Community Service Volunteers (including those           volunteering for probation requirements)

Organize Events:

• Blessed to Be a Blessing:  Act as liaison between local school systems and RSM 
• Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Other Duties:

• Organize and work with College Students and Youth Groups throughout the year
• Manage Community Service Volunteers
• Other activities as assigned by the Director
• Manage ASU Interns that come to serve at RSM

Qualifications & Preferences:

• Mature and active Christian disciple, who has compassion for the needy, is encouraging and sensitive to others and their circumstances and able to offer respectful and loving guidance.
• Comfortable and proficient with technology and willing to advance in capabilities
• Organized, flexible and able to multi-task
• Financially responsible with RSM resources the Lord has provided
• High school degree required – college experience a plus
• Proficient in Spanish a plus but not required
• Willing and able to interact with and recruit volunteers from other churches and agencies in the Concho Valley as well as JSCC.

The Rust Street Ministries Assistant Director/Volunteer Coordinator position is a full time salaried position. Salary to be determined based on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes sick leave, paid vacation, health insurance and retirement benefits.
