K-12 Educator Trainer, Michigan
Years in Michigan schools, whether in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Flint, or up north, give you a feel for what teachers there are up against. This role puts that experience to use.
As a K-12 educator trainer, you'd teach classroom management to school staffs in person or online, and your own experience would help the training feel real to the teachers in front of you.
It all begins with a virtual Weekend Certification of 36 hours, held over three days on two weekends, with Content Mastery and then High-Impact Facilitation. If you want graduate credit, the certification is eligible for 4 credits through UMass Global. Orientation, materials, and support come with it. Certification carries tuition. Sponsorship is available, and so is paying over time.
The work is contract-based (1099), and how many hours you get isn't guaranteed. Each training day typically pays at least $1,000, and pay goes out every Friday. Most trainings come from schools you reach through the outreach approach in certification. Once a school is interested, your National Director handles the contract and negotiation. We don't divide the country into territories, so you can work at home in Michigan or anywhere else.
Since most trainers are still teaching or leading schools, trainings tend to fall on evenings, weekends, personal days, or summer break. Our program dates to 1993. In that time more than 400,000 educators have trained with us, in every state including Michigan.
If you've taught, coached, counseled, or been a principal in K-12 schools, now or in the past, you're a fit, and other educators are welcome too. Current students are welcome as long as they plan to finish certification.
