Professional Development Trainer, Pennsylvania
This one is for Pennsylvania educators, whether you teach in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, coach in Allentown or Erie, or run a school near Harrisburg or Scranton.
Professional development trainers with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness teach classroom management to whole school staffs. You lead each training day yourself, start to finish, at the school or by video.
Your first step is our virtual Weekend Certification, which takes 36 hours over three days on two weekends. You can apply the certification toward 4 graduate credits through UMass Global. Orientation, materials, and support are included. The certification has a tuition cost, which you can cover through sponsorship or pay over time.
You'd be self-employed for this work, as a 1099 independent contractor, and hours aren't guaranteed. The going rate for a training day is typically $1,000 or more, paid on Fridays. Bookings mostly come from your own outreach to schools, following the approach in certification. Your National Director handles contracts and negotiation. We don't divide the country into territories, so you can work at home in Pennsylvania or anywhere else.
Most trainers still work in schools and train around that schedule, on evenings, weekends, personal days, and summers. You'd represent a program that has trained more than 400,000 educators in all 50 states since 1993.
Classroom teachers, principals, counselors, coaches, and other K-12 educators are all welcome, current or former. Students planning to complete certification are welcome to apply.
