Teacher Training Specialist

Training teachers well takes its own set of skills, and we spend 36 hours building them before anyone leads a session. As a Teacher Training Specialist with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness, you'll train K-12 staffs in classroom management, in person or virtually.

Your preparation is our virtual Weekend Certification, three days across two weekends. Two days go to the content, and one goes to facilitation. You pay tuition for it, with sponsorship and pay-over-time options available, and the certification is eligible for 4 graduate credits through UMass Global. Orientation, materials, and ongoing support come with it.

After you're certified, you work as a 1099 independent contractor, with no hours guaranteed. Specialists typically earn $1,000 or more for each training day and get paid every Friday. Most trainings come from schools you approach using the outreach method from certification, and a National Director handles each contract and its negotiation for you.

Where you work is up to you. Nobody holds a territory, so your own district, the next district over, and the rest of the country are all open. Most of our trainers are working teachers and administrators who train on evenings, weekends, and personal days, and during summers.

We've been doing this since 1993 and have trained more than 400,000 educators in all 50 states. The role fits current and former K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, counselors, principals, and other educators. Current students can apply if they plan to complete certification.
