Contract Professional Development Trainer

This listing is for contract work, so the terms come first. You would work as a 1099 independent contractor for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness, delivering classroom management professional development to K-12 schools. Hours are not guaranteed. Pay is per training day, usually $1,000 or more, and it's sent every Friday.

Trainers line up most contracts themselves by reaching out to schools, using an approach we teach in certification. When a school is ready to book, your National Director drafts the contract and negotiates the terms, so your attention can stay on the training itself. Work can be in your own district, in nearby districts, or anywhere in the country, in person or virtually, since there are no territories.

Before your first contract, you complete our virtual Weekend Certification. Plan on 36 hours over three days across two weekends, with content first and facilitation second. Certification has tuition. Sponsorship and pay-over-time options can help with it, and it qualifies for 4 graduate credits through UMass Global. Orientation, training materials, and continuing support are included. Every trainer completes the same certification, whatever their background.

We have trained more than 400,000 educators in all 50 states since 1993. Most of our trainers are active teachers and administrators who fit sessions in on evenings, weekends, personal days, and summers.

This contract role suits current and former K-12 teachers, coaches, counselors, principals, and other educators. Students may apply if they plan to complete certification.
