Teacher Professional Development Trainer
In most buildings, there's one teacher the others go to when a class gets hard to manage. If that's you, this role takes that skill into other schools. The Center for Teacher Effectiveness has trained more than 400,000 educators across all 50 states since 1993, and we want more teachers training teachers in classroom management.
You'll run professional development for school staffs, either in person or over video. Before your first session, you'll finish our virtual Weekend Certification. It's three days and 36 hours spread over two weekends: the content first, then a day on facilitation. There's tuition for the certification, with sponsorship and pay-over-time options to help, and it qualifies for 4 graduate credits through UMass Global. Orientation, materials, and ongoing support are part of it.
Most of our trainers still teach or lead a school, fitting sessions into personal days, evenings, weekends, and summer break. No one owns a territory, so your own district is open to you, and so is the rest of the country.
You'd be a 1099 independent contractor, and hours aren't guaranteed. A training day typically pays $1,000 or more, and payday is every Friday. You line up most of your trainings yourself, using the outreach approach from certification, and your National Director writes each contract and handles the negotiation.
We're looking first for current and former K-12 teachers, and we also welcome coaches, counselors, principals, and other educators. If you're a student who plans to complete certification, you can apply too.
