Harbor Church Summer Internships (Worship, Production, Youth, Social Media, Pastoral)
SPEND YOUR SUMMER AT HARBOR.
10 Weeks. 20–25 Hours a Week. $15/Hour. Real Ministry. Real Experience.
Want to know what it's actually like to work at a church?
Maybe you're thinking about ministry someday. Maybe you're studying something that could translate into ministry. Maybe you just know you love Jesus, love the local church, and want to spend your summer doing something that actually matters.
Come hang with us.
The Harbor Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship where you'll become part of the Harbor team, learn from our staff, work on real projects, and get opportunities to actually lead—not just watch everyone else do ministry.
You'll have a specific area you'll work in, but you'll also get a behind-the-scenes look at how the whole church works.
And yes, you'll probably make a coffee run at some point.
So will the rest of us.
WORSHIP INTERN
You already know the setlist before Sunday, don't you?
If you're the person who hears a worship song and immediately starts thinking about the arrangement, harmony, transition, or whether Harbor should do it someday...this might be your summer.
We're looking for a Worship Intern who wants to become a better worship leader—not just a better musician.
You'll spend the summer with our Worship Team learning what actually goes into creating a Sunday experience: choosing songs, building sets, leading rehearsals, working with musicians, partnering with production, developing volunteers, and figuring out what to do when something goes sideways five minutes before service.
You'll get to:
- Lead worship on Sundays.
- Work alongside Harbor's worship leaders.
- Help build worship sets.
- Sit in on worship planning.
- Be part of rehearsals.
- Learn Planning Center.
- Work with tracks, arrangements, keys, and transitions.
- Help lead team devotionals.
- Learn how we recruit and develop worship volunteers.
- Sit in on auditions.
- Learn the basics of production.
- Join our Monday morning Worship/Production Weekend Debrief.
- Get actual feedback on your worship leadership.
- Eventually plan and lead a full worship set.
We're looking for someone who loves Jesus, loves worship, has musical ability, works well with people, and wants to get better.
You don't have to walk in knowing everything.
Actually, we'd prefer you don't think you do.
10 weeks | 20–25 hours/week | $15/hour
Sundays required.
Bring your instrument. We'll provide the caffeine.
PRODUCTION INTERN
Prefer the booth to the stage? We like you already.
Some people watch a service.
You notice the lighting cue was three seconds late.
If you're into audio, lighting, video, livestreaming, cameras, computers, gear, or figuring out why something isn't working when everyone else is panicking, you might belong in Production.
Our Production Intern will spend the summer learning what it takes to make Sundays happen from behind the scenes.
And no—we don't expect you to already know how to run everything.
We'll teach you.
You'll get your hands on:
- Live audio.
- Lighting.
- ProPresenter.
- Cameras.
- Video.
- Livestream/broadcast.
- Stage management.
- Service cues.
- Planning Center.
- Production setup.
- Troubleshooting.
- Sunday services.
- Worship rehearsals.
- Special events.
You'll rotate through different positions instead of getting stuck doing the same thing all summer.
You'll also join the Monday morning Worship/Production Weekend Debrief where we talk about what worked, what didn't, what broke, what almost broke, and how we're making next Sunday better.
By the end of the summer, you'll have an opportunity to help production-lead an actual service or event.
We're looking for someone who's curious, dependable, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and willing to learn.
Production experience is awesome.
But it isn't required.
10 weeks | 20–25 hours/week | $15/hour
Sundays required.
Come make Sundays happen.
YOUTH INTERN
Like teenagers? Like Jesus? Have a high tolerance for chaos?
Perfect.
Our Youth Intern will spend the summer helping create environments where students can show up, belong, have an unreasonable amount of fun, ask real questions, and grow in their faith.
You'll work alongside our Youth Team and get actual experience in student ministry—not just stand in the back of the room watching.
You'll get to:
- Hang out with students.
- Help lead Youth nights.
- Plan ridiculous games.
- Lead small groups.
- Help create summer events.
- Develop and share devotionals.
- Get opportunities to teach.
- Welcome new students.
- Help students get connected.
- Work alongside Youth volunteers.
- Learn how we communicate with parents.
- Help plan events from scratch.
- Learn how to recruit and develop leaders.
- Participate in Sunday ministry.
- Get coached by our Youth leadership.
You'll also learn about the stuff people don't see: planning, safety, follow-up, communication, volunteer development, hard conversations, and what it actually takes to care for students well.
Eventually, we'll hand you something real to lead.
By the end of the summer, you'll help plan and run a complete Youth night or event.
We're looking for someone who loves Jesus, genuinely likes teenagers, brings energy, doesn't take themselves too seriously, and can still be responsible when it matters.
If you can make a middle schooler laugh and still get them to listen to you five minutes later, we're off to a great start.
10 weeks | 20–25 hours/week | $15/hour
Sundays + Youth ministry availability required.
SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
Your camera roll is basically content waiting to happen.
You notice good lighting.
You understand why some Reels work and others absolutely do not.
You've probably said, "Wait, do that again—I need to get it on video."
We need you.
Our Social Media Intern will spend the summer helping us tell the story of what God is doing at Harbor.
You'll get real experience creating content for an actual organization with an actual audience—not imaginary projects for a class.
You'll get to:
- Shoot photo and video content.
- Create Reels and short-form videos.
- Capture Sundays.
- Help run Instagram and Facebook.
- Brainstorm content ideas.
- Write captions.
- Create graphics.
- Edit video.
- Build content calendars.
- Cover Harbor events.
- Tell people's stories.
- Work with different ministries.
- Learn Harbor's brand and voice.
- Look at analytics and figure out what's actually working.
- Help plan campaigns from idea to execution.
And yes, part of your job is basically walking around Harbor looking for cool stuff happening.
But you'll also learn the strategy behind it.
Why are we posting this? Who are we trying to reach? What do we want them to do next?
By the end of the summer, you'll create and run your own multi-week Harbor social campaign or content series.
We're looking for someone who's creative, online, organized, full of ideas, and understands that just because something is trending doesn't mean Harbor needs to do it.
Photography, Canva, CapCut, Adobe, video editing, or design experience?
Even better.
10 weeks | 20–25 hours/week | $15/hour
Regular Sunday availability required for content capture.
Come make Harbor look as fun online as it actually is.
PASTORAL INTERN
Think you might want to be a pastor someday?
Come find out what pastors actually do Monday through Saturday.
The Pastoral Internship is for someone who feels called to ministry—or is starting to wonder if maybe they are.
You'll spend the summer alongside Harbor's pastors getting an honest look at ministry from both sides of the stage.
You'll see the preaching and teaching.
But you'll also see the meetings, planning, prayer, people, hard conversations, hospital visits, decisions, leadership, administration, and all the things nobody sees on Sunday.
You'll get to:
- Shadow Harbor pastors.
- Sit in on Tuesday morning Staff Meetings.
- Be part of Sunday services.
- Help with sermon research.
- Learn how messages are developed.
- Write and lead devotionals.
- Get supervised teaching opportunities.
- Participate in prayer ministry.
- Join appropriate pastoral-care visits.
- Learn about baptisms and next steps.
- Experience groups and discipleship.
- Participate in missions and outreach.
- Sit in on ministry planning.
- Learn how church leadership works.
- Help plan ministry initiatives.
- Learn how volunteers are developed.
- Ask our pastors a lot of questions.
And we mean that last one.
Ask the questions.
How do you know you're called?
How do you write a sermon?
How do you handle criticism?
How do you lead people older than you?
What happens when someone walks into your office with a huge problem?
What's actually hard about ministry?
We want you to see the real thing.
By the end of the summer, you'll complete a significant teaching or ministry project based on your interests and gifts.
We're looking for someone who loves Jesus, loves Scripture, loves people, asks good questions, is trustworthy, wants to grow, and is seriously interested in exploring ministry.
You don't need to know whether you're called to be a pastor yet.
That's kind of the point.
10 weeks | 20–25 hours/week | $15/hour
Sundays required.
Come spend a summer figuring it out.
WHICHEVER INTERNSHIP YOU CHOOSE...
You're not just joining a department.
You're joining the Harbor Summer Intern Team.
For 10 weeks, you'll get:
$15/hour.
20–25 hours of paid work each week.
Real ministry experience.
A Harbor staff mentor.
Weekly intern development.
Access to Harbor pastors and leaders.
Behind-the-scenes exposure to different ministries.
A project that's actually yours to lead.
Feedback that will actually help you grow.
A chance to figure out what you're good at.
A chance to figure out what you're definitely not good at.
Both are helpful.
You'll learn about leadership, ministry, calling, working with people, building teams, handling feedback, and what it's actually like to work at a church.
And you'll do it alongside other interns who are figuring some of the same things out.
SO...WHO SHOULD APPLY?
You don't need a ministry degree.
You don't need to have your whole life figured out.
You don't need to already be an expert in your internship area.
We're looking for people who:
Love Jesus.
Love the local church.
Show up.
Work hard.
Ask questions.
Take feedback.
Care about people.
Are willing to try things.
Don't think they're above the small stuff.
Want to grow.
If you're thinking,
"I don't know if I want to work in ministry someday...but I'd really like to find out,"
that's exactly what this internship is for.
10 WEEKS.
FIVE INTERNSHIPS.
ONE REALLY GOOD SUMMER.
