About the RoleWe're looking for a School-Based Social Worker to join our team and make a direct impact on students' lives. You'll work inside school buildings, serving as a critical bridge between students, families, and the community resources they need. This isn't a behind-the-desk job — it's hands-on, relationship-driven work that shapes how kids experience school and life.
What you'll do- Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop intervention plans- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education teams on IEP development and implementation- Connect students and families to community resources — housing, mental health services, food assistance, and more- Respond to crisis situations with calm, clear judgment- Facilitate family engagement and serve as a liaison between home and school- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in compliance with school and state requirements- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to school-wide support systems
About you- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required- Licensed or license-eligible in Maryland (LMSW or LCSW-C)- Experience working with children, adolescents, or in a school setting preferred- Solid understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and family systems- Strong communicator — comfortable talking with a frustrated parent, a withdrawn teenager, and a school principal in the same afternoon- Organized enough to manage a caseload without dropping details
Nice to have- Experience with IEPs and special education processes- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages)- Familiarity with community resources in Frederick County, Maryland
