Podcast Editorial Producer (Paid, Remote, Part-Time)

About the role

We're a small podcast production studio making interview shows about energy, climate and policy. Our editor handles the technical cleanup. We need someone with a great ear to make the editorial calls: what stays, what goes, and what makes a conversation worth listening to.

You'd be the person who knows a tangent is gold, a joke needs to stay in, and a five-minute detour should be thirty seconds. If you've ever listened to a podcast and thought, I would have cut that, this is for you.

What you'll do
  • Review raw episode transcripts in Descript and mark cuts before our editor starts
  • Flag what to keep, like humor, banter and strong moments, with a quick note on why
  • Shape the flow so episodes feel natural, tight and engaging
  • Bonus: improve sound quality with EQ, compression and cleanup beyond our current automated processing
  • Over time, help pick the best moments for social clips
What we're looking for
  • A strong ear for conversation, pacing and humor
  • Fluent English and solid writing skills
  • Someone who listens to podcasts and has opinions about what makes them good
  • Reliable with deadlines and comfortable working independently
  • Curiosity about energy and climate is a plus, but no background is needed
Bonus points
  • Audio engineering or production experience (Audition, iZotope RX, Pro Tools, Logic or similar)
  • Experience with Descript or any audio or video editing
  • Coursework in audio production, journalism, radio, film or media
Details
  • About 4 to 5 hours per week, flexible around your class schedule
  • $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience
  • Fully remote
  • Real portfolio work on published podcasts
How to apply

Submit your resume and a few sentences answering this: what's a podcast you love, and what's one thing they do well in the edit?

Shortlisted applicants will get a short paid-style editing test: a 15 to 20 minute raw segment to mark up. It takes under an hour, and it's the best way for us to see your ear in action.
