High School Tutor
Organization Description:
Bronx Lacrosse is a year-round academic and sports-based youth development program that has a mission of improving educational opportunities and life outcomes for underserved middle school and high school students in the Bronx. The program uses lacrosse as a vehicle to build community, invest students in school, and improve academics. We are currently seeking math tutors to assist with our Algebra Readiness Tutoring program after school.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Provide in person individual or small group tutoring during after school hours (3:00-5:00)
- Explain concepts, review content, guide practice, and check completed work in subjects including Algebra, Pre-Calculus, English, Biology, Physics, and Spanish
- Build relationships and community within small groups
Requirements:
- Commit to 2-10 hrs per week between the hours of 3:00 PM--5:00 PM Monday - Friday
- Patience with students who struggle academically
- A belief that every student has the desire and the ability to succeed
- Strong academic record
- Growth mindset and desire for feedback
- Strong interest in working with underserved youth
- Prior tutoring experience a plus
