About the Role
We're looking for an English teacher and academic tutor to work with middle and high school students. You'll deliver focused instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and literature while providing individualized academic support tailored to each student's needs and goals.
What You'll Do
- Teach and tutor students in grades 6–12 in English language arts, including essay writing, literary analysis, grammar, and reading comprehension- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with Common Core or school-specific standards- Assess student progress and adjust instruction based on individual strengths, gaps, and learning styles- Communicate regularly with students and families about academic progress- Prepare students for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, or state assessments when applicable- Maintain accurate records of student sessions, assignments, and performance
About You
Required:- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field- Experience working with middle or high school students in a teaching or tutoring capacity- Strong command of English grammar, writing, and literature- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction for different learners
Nice to Have:- Teaching credential or certification- Experience with SAT/ACT prep- Familiarity with IEPs or differentiated instruction strategies- Bilingual skills
