Business Analyst Intern

Position Overview

Unity Bands is seeking a motivated and analytical Business Research & Strategy Intern to support business analysis, organizational research, program development, and strategic initiatives.

In this role, you will help evaluate organizational challenges, assess potential programs and business opportunities, research operational processes, and develop actionable recommendations that support informed decision-making. You will gain hands-on exposure to business analysis methodologies, feasibility assessments, strategic planning, and cross-functional problem-solving within a growing nonprofit organization.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Research

Conduct research to identify organizational challenges, operational needs, industry trends, and opportunities for improvement.

Gather and evaluate information from internal stakeholders, industry sources, nonprofit organizations, and relevant external resources.

Assist with identifying business requirements, evaluating existing processes, and documenting opportunities for operational improvement.

Conduct comparative analyses, benchmarking, and research to support organizational planning and decision-making.

Prepare business analysis summaries, research reports, presentations, and actionable recommendations.

Program Feasibility & Business Case Development

Support feasibility assessments for proposed programs, services, and organizational initiatives.

Research potential operating models, resource requirements, estimated costs, implementation considerations, and associated risks.

Assist with developing business cases that evaluate the practicality, sustainability, and potential impact of new initiatives.

Compare alternative solutions and recommend approaches based on organizational needs, available resources, and strategic priorities.

Contribute research and analysis to initiatives involving healthcare worker assistance, transportation services, and community-based programs.

Strategic Planning & Process Improvement

Evaluate organizational workflows, operational challenges, and opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Support strategic planning efforts by researching emerging opportunities, organizational needs, and potential growth initiatives.

Assist with developing recommendations to improve existing programs, processes, and service delivery models.

Research industry best practices and identify approaches that could strengthen organizational performance.

Help establish measurable objectives, success indicators, and evaluation criteria for proposed initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support

Collaborate with Operations, Programs & Impact, Finance, and other departments to understand organizational needs and support business initiatives.

Participate in project discussions, gather stakeholder input, and help translate organizational challenges into actionable project recommendations.

Develop and maintain project documentation, research findings, business requirements, and feasibility assessments.

Present findings, recommendations, and proposed next steps to team members and organizational leadership.

Take ownership of assigned research and business analysis projects while proactively identifying opportunities to contribute to organizational growth.
