Summer Inclusion & Behavioral Support Intern
Summer Inclusion Counselor | Child Development & Behavioral Support
Camp Sewataro | Sudbury, MA | Summer 2027
Put your education into practice and help children experience the confidence, friendships, and belonging that camp can offer. Camp Sewataro is seeking dedicated Inclusion Counselors to support campers with diverse behavioral, emotional, social, and developmental needs.
As part of our Community Support Team, you’ll work directly with children and counselor teams throughout the camp day. You might help a camper navigate a difficult transition, coach counselors through a group challenge, or adjust a support plan as you discover what helps a child succeed. Your work will combine relationship building, thoughtful planning, and hands-on support, with guidance from camp leadership.
What you’ll do:
Observe campers to identify strengths, needs, and patterns.
Develop, implement, and update individualized camper support plans with supervisor collaboration and oversight.
Help campers practice emotional regulation, navigate peer conflicts, and participate meaningfully in activities.
Provide in-the-moment support and de-escalation when challenges arise.
Model inclusive practices and give counselors practical tools and strategies.
Document progress and collaborate with leadership to maintain consistent support.
Who we’re looking for: College juniors, seniors, or qualified professionals with at least one year of internship or field placement experience providing direct support to children or other populations with additional support needs. Studies or experience in special education, psychology, social work, counseling, or education are especially relevant.
What you’ll gain: Practical experience in individualized planning, behavioral support, documentation, and team collaboration, along with the opportunity to see how your consistent effort helps children grow.
