Term of Service - January 11, 2027 - Aug 21, 2027

Purpose -

Wisconsin 4-H AmeriCorps programs aim to increase the capacity of youth serving organizations in counties throughout Wisconsin. The Milwaukee 4-H AmeriCorps Member will lead nutrition, cooking and related healthy living activities directly with youth at collaborating schools and youth serving sites.  

The AmeriCorps Member will be located primarily in the Milwaukee County Extension Office, but will often travel to community site locations (schools, youth organizations, non-profits, etc.) throughout the County. Member will return to their private residence each night and will serve on projects in and around their assigned county.

Description of Duties -

Member will serve a minimum of 450 hours between dates of term, and:

  • Establish relationships with youth organizations outside of Extension to build programs for young people, using 4-H curriculum and resources, to expand offerings and build capacity of the partner organization. 
  • Work with no less than 3 collaborating organizations.
  • Provide direct delivery of nutrition based programming to youth.
  • Report efforts monthly on each collaborating organization.
  • Abide by all AmeriCorps, 4-H and UW Madison policies and procedures, including Prohibited Activities, non-displacement/ non-duplication regulations, and fundraising guidelines.

Qualifications -

  • Must be able to commit to the full term of service.
  • Ability to interact with diverse youth, families, and communities within mostly the City of Milwaukee. 
  • Understanding or willingness to learn about the community organizations and Wisconsin 4-H.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Upon hire, all WI 4-H AmeriCorps Members must consent to a Criminal History Check.
  • Preferred- Spanish speaking skills.

Orientation and Training

Mandatory Orientation - Monday, January 11, 2027

Professional Development and Training- 

  • Monthly virtual professional development
  • Regular in person regional meetings
  • In-person workshops/conferences

Benefits

Living Allowance -

  • $5,000 total, $312.50 biweekly (pre-tax).  

 

Segal AmeriCorps Education Award -

  • $1,956.35 upon successful completion of hours

 

Student Loan Forbearance and Interest Payments (if qualified)
