Photographer/Videographer/Broadcast Technician
Headliners Dance Championships is seeking media freelancers for our 2027 tour. Capture live dance performances, work with a production team, and build your experience in event photography, videography, or broadcast operations.
At a glance
Event pay: $25 per hour, plus additional load-in/load-out pay.
Season: Weekends from late January through mid-May 2027. You do not need to commit to every weekend.
Covered expenses: Headliners arranges and pays for travel, hotels, shuttles, rental cars, and food.
First-year training: Required November 21–22, 2026, in Morristown, New Jersey. Training is unpaid; however, travel, food, and lodging are covered.
Roles and training
You may work primarily as a photographer or videographer. All first-year media staff must train in both photography and videography. Your skills and role flexibility may affect event assignments.
Photography
Set up photography equipment, assist with cable management, and capture approximately 30–60 photos per dance routine.
Videography
Set up camera equipment and provide video feeds to stage and backstage monitors, judges, and the streaming computer. Record onstage routines, maintaining smooth framing while following dancers’ movements.
Broadcast technician
Set up the video rack, check and secure feed connections, operate broadcast software, and monitor livestreams and recordings.
What a competition weekend involves
Staff generally travel Friday morning and return Sunday evening. Some events require earlier travel or a later return, depending on their size and location.
A typical event includes Friday setup and evening competition, followed by full competition days Saturday and Sunday. Sunday competition typically ends around dinner time. Travel and setup schedules vary by event.
All production staff assist with loading and unloading equipment from a 26-foot box truck and receive additional load-in/load-out pay.
What we’re looking for
Experience photographing or filming moving subjects.
Comfort using computers and troubleshooting calmly.
A collaborative attitude and willingness to help with equipment setup and breakdown.
Availability for required first-year training and weekend event travel.
Working knowledge of HDMI, SDI, RCA, Ethernet, and XLR connections is relevant to the work, particularly video and broadcast assignments. Include your familiarity with these systems and with Mac and Windows computers in your application.
How to apply
Submit a résumé detailing your photography, videography, and technical production experience, including dates and the work you performed. Student projects and other relevant experience are welcome to describe.
Please include your primary role interest, your availability for November training, and your expected weekend availability during the tour.
