Principal Product Manager, Identity & Trust
A fast-growing, remote-first consumer mobile company serving over 100 million monthly active users across more than 180 countries is looking for a Principal Product Manager to own identity, authentication and account security. Every member journey starts with a sign-in, so this role defines how the company knows who its members are and keeps their accounts safe. You will work with Security, Engineering, Data, Customer Care, Legal and Growth teams. This role is remote within the United States.
🎯 Role:
🔹 Own the front door: define the vision, strategy and roadmap for authentication and authorization, registration, member access, session management and credential lifecycle across mobile, web and partner integrations
🔹 Make account recovery safe and humane: get legitimate members back in quickly without handing access to an attacker
🔹 Stay ahead of attackers: partner with Security to anticipate account takeover, credential stuffing, phishing, SIM-swap and social engineering, and build layered defenses
🔹 Move beyond passwords: lead the roadmap for passkeys, passwordless and phishing-resistant authentication, step-up and risk-based authentication
🔹 Build for the whole world: design identity for 180+ countries, including phone-number-first behavior, SMS and OTP deliverability and cost, localization and regional regulation
🔹 Earn trust with families: handle teen and minor accounts, age assurance and parental consent in line with COPPA and GDPR
🔹 Set the standard: define company-wide identity and trust KPIs such as account takeover rate, sign-in success, recovery success and passkey adoption
🔹 Drive telemetry, fraud signals and detection so teams can see abuse, friction and drop-off across the identity journey
🔹 Translate threat models and incident learnings into clear narratives for executives on where the company is exposed and where to invest
📌 Requirements:
✅ 10+ years of product management experience, including significant time at a principal or staff level with cross-functional scope
✅ Deep hands-on experience owning consumer identity, authentication, account security or trust products at scale
✅ Strong cybersecurity depth: threat modeling, account takeover, fraud and abuse, MFA, passkeys/FIDO2/WebAuthn, OAuth/OIDC, session management and credential security
✅ Full-stack product ownership: comfort with backend identity services and APIs, plus care for mobile and web login, onboarding and recovery UX
✅ Global mindset: experience launching identity flows across many countries, regulatory regimes, languages and device and carrier environments
✅ Working knowledge of privacy and compliance standards such as NIST 800-63, GDPR, CCPA and COPPA; experience with minors' accounts or age assurance is a plus
✅ Experience driving alignment across large matrixed organizations, including Engineering, Security, Legal, Privacy and Customer Support
✅ Strong analytical instincts and excellent written and verbal communication, with high ownership and a bias for action
💰 Benefits:
