Production, Camera and Sound Assistant

Meeting Tom Cruise is a video podcast hosted by actors Jeff Meacham (Black-ish) and Joel Johnstone (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). The show combines celebrity interviews, movie conversation, upcoming-project promotion, and an ongoing quest to finally meet Tom Cruise. 

We’re looking for a reliable, technically minded Production / Camera / Sound Assistant to support the recording of our video podcast and help keep our production running smoothly. 

Responsibilities 

Assist with setup and breakdown of cameras, lighting, microphones, audio equipment, and related production gear. 

Help operate and monitor a multi-camera video podcast setup during recording. 

Monitor camera framing, focus, exposure, white balance, audio levels, and other technical elements throughout sessions. 

Help troubleshoot technical issues involving cameras, microphones, computers, recording software, and remote guest connections. 

Assist with Riverside and other remote-recording workflows. 

Perform basic equipment checks before each recording to ensure cameras, memory cards, batteries, microphones, and recording systems are ready. 

Help organize, transfer, label, and back up recorded media after each session. 

Maintain an organized studio environment and help keep equipment production-ready. 

Assist hosts, producers, and guests with technical needs as they arise. 

Ideal Candidate 

Has hands-on experience with cameras, sound, video production, podcasting, livestreaming, or a related field. 

Comfortable working with mirrorless/DSLR cameras and professional audio equipment. 

Understands basic principles of exposure, focus, frame rate, white balance, microphone placement, and audio levels. 

Comfortable with computers and able to troubleshoot technical problems calmly and quickly. 

Familiarity with Sony cameras, Riverside, Rode equipment, video switchers, and multi-camera podcast production is a plus. 

Organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-moving production environment. 

Interested in movies, entertainment, podcasts, and production. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their production career who wants hands-on experience with a growing entertainment podcast while working directly with experienced actors and producers.
