AI Research Generalist (M-Series MacBook Required)

About the Role

Hire & Fly is recruiting for a research project with a leading AI lab and is seeking detail-oriented generalists to help benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models.

This is research and writing work, not engineering. You will create high-quality research questions, answers, and evaluation materials that are used to train advanced language models. A typical task means digging into a topic across several sources, forming a clear view of what is accurate, and writing it up precisely.

It suits people who read carefully, research independently, and write well. Postgraduate students and recent graduates from any field are a good fit, including the humanities and social sciences; an interdisciplinary background is a nice to have. The responsibilities are clearly structured, without the pressure typically found in internships or full-time consulting roles. Start is immediate.

Who this is for

• You are currently pursuing or have recently completed a Master's degree, OR you hold a bachelor's degree plus 2-3 years of relevant experience.
• You own a MacBook with an Apple Silicon "M" series chip - an M-series MacBook Pro, or a MacBook Air running macOS 15 or higher. This is a hard requirement. The tasks cannot be completed on any other machine.
• You can research a topic across several sources and summarize it clearly in your own writing, without AI writing tools.
• You can commit about 10-20 hours a week. This is paid hourly for hours actually worked, not a lump sum.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed Master's studies, or 2-3 years of relevant experience plus a bachelor's degree.
• A MacBook with an Apple Silicon (ARM) "M" series chip, running macOS 15 or higher.
• Strong online research and communication skills.
• Ability to gather and clearly summarize information from diverse sources.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• An interdisciplinary degree is a nice to have.

Job Details

• Compensation: $50 - $60 per hour
• Location: Fully remote
• Schedule: Flexible, approximately 10-20 hours per week
• Engagement: Independent contractor

What to expect when you apply

Contract & Payment Terms

Payments are issued weekly through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered. Project length and workload may be extended, shortened, or concluded depending on project needs and performance.

The work will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to your current employer, clients, university, or other institutions.
