Camera Strategic Sourcing Manager — Optical Systems
Majors: Optics and related (optical sciences, optical engineering, imaging science, photonics, optomechanics)
Class level: B.S. Senior, M.S., or PhD
Role Overview
Tesla camera supply chain co-designs the lenses and modules that feed Autopilot, robotaxis, and Optimus. We sit with engineering, challenge specs that cannot be built, and industrialize the process so the part can be made at volume, at cost, at quality.
If you like optical technologies, supplier development, DFM, incoming metrology, or taking a camera from a lab sample to a production line, this is the work. The job is not to rubber-stamp a drawing. It is to ask whether we should make it that way at all — then make the better version manufacturable.
You will do well here if you catch the details others skip, stay curious, look for a manufacturing path that is not on the drawing, and do not give up when the first approach fails. Measure before you argue, write down what you learned, and treat a miss as yours to close. We would rather hire a curious operator who will push engineering than a polished spectator who waits for a spec.
