Growth Enablement Intern

ICF’s utility practice is poised for significant growth over the next five years. From decarbonization of energy generation, to grid modernization, to energy efficiency and electrification of buildings and vehicles, ICF’s utility clients are at the center of a fundamental shift in the energy industry. To meet our goals, we are looking for an energetic intern to support our project activities. As an intern, you will gain insights into the energy industry and the emerging solutions utilities are adopting to provide their customers pathways to a more sustainable future against climate change. You will work with a team of industry leading solutions experts, and report to the Senior Manager, Growth Enablement on the Proposals, Analytics, and Growth Enablement (PAGE) Team who will connect you directly to these thought leaders. You will also gain hands-on exposure to business development activities that support our utility clients. This is a full-time, 10-week internship that will begin in early June 2027. This role will be hybrid (2x per week) from Reston, VA or Arlington, VA. At this time, relocation or housing assistance is not available. Pay is expected to be $23/hour.

 

We’re currently hiring a Growth Enablement intern to join us virtually from June through August 2027:

  • Build hands-on experience in business development (BD) operations by supporting the Growth Enablement team and subject matter experts (SMEs) in developing client-facing materials, including discovery questions, one-pager brochures, and pitch decks, contributing research, drafts, and edits under close guidance from team members and SMEs
  • Audit and refresh outdated content in the proposal content library, working alongside BD writers and SMEs to ensure materials are current, reusable, and easy to find.
  • Design editable PowerPoint graphics and visuals that translate complex ideas and technical concepts into clear, compelling content that strengthens proposal readability.
  • Explore and apply AI tools to accelerate content development, from drafting and editing to organizing and formatting materials.

Minimum qualifications

  • By start date, a minimum of 60 completed college level credit hours in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Economics,  Environmental Studies, or related field.

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to learn new things quickly
  • Experience conducting research, organizing, and analyzing information
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced skill in SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
