Position: Outreach and Communications Intern (Unpaid Internship)

Location: Holgate Mental Health | Montvale, NJ

Program Level: Open to all enrolled Caldwell University students pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations

Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week | In-Person 

About the Role

Holgate Mental Health is seeking a motivated communications intern to support our outreach efforts and help welcome new clients as we grow in Bergen County. This is a collaborative experience where you will work closely with both our clinical and operations teams, gaining insight into a field that few communications professionals ever get to see from the inside.

What You Will Do

Work alongside our team to support community and professional outreach, assist with marketing materials, help orient new clients to our program, and contribute to our communications with referral sources and the broader community.

Specific Training You Will Receive

Throughout your internship, you will receive direct training in:

Healthcare outreach strategy and professional referral development Marketing content creation for a behavioral health organization New client engagement and orientation support Communication protocols with clinical referral sources including physicians, therapists, and hospitals Understanding of PHP and IOP program structure and clinical operations Intake and admissions workflow from a communications perspective Community partnership development and relationship management Compliance and ethical standards in behavioral health communications and marketing Internal communications support across clinical and administrative departments Training is provided by experienced outreach coordinators under the supervision of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, who are genuinely invested in helping you understand every dimension of how a mental health outpatient program works.
