Position: Business Intelligence Analyst, Analyst
Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Reports to: Business Technology Strategist, AVP
Work Location: Hybrid – NYC, NY
Position Summary:
Are you passionate about helping people achieve career success while advancing your own professional journey? At Knopman Marks Financial Training, we craft transformative learning experiences designed to excel in high-pressure situations. For 35 years, we've been shaping the top performers in the securities industry, and we're on the lookout for innovative thinkers and lifelong learners to join our team.
The Business Intelligence Analyst position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who love turning questions into answers and take pride in numbers being right. You'll build and maintain the dashboards our leadership, client-facing teams, and training programs rely on every day, write and validate SQL against our cloud data warehouse, own the intake and triage of incoming data requests, and safeguard data quality across the systems that power client-facing reporting. As part of a small, fast-paced team, you'll be the execution engine of our business intelligence function, with a defined growth path toward owning the core datasets and reporting infrastructure behind our analytics ecosystem.
What You'll Do:
-
Build & Maintain Dashboards and Reporting:
- Build, maintain, and enhance Sigma dashboards for internal teams and client-facing training programs, including refresh reliability, row-level security verification, and pre-launch QA.
-
Write & Validate SQL:
- Write, validate, and document SQL in Snowflake to answer business questions and power reporting datasets; over time, take on maintenance of shared reporting views and datasets that downstream dashboards depend on.
-
Own Request Intake & Triage:
- Own the day-to-day management of the data request and platform boards: clarify requirements with requestors, size and route incoming work, keep statuses current, and close the loop with stakeholders on delivery.
-
Safeguard Data Quality:
- Run data anomaly and QA workflows: investigate discrepancies down to row-level detail, coordinate fixes with the appropriate owner, and maintain the dashboard QA checklist used before reporting ships.
-
Support Recurring & Seasonal Reporting:
- Support delivery of recurring client and program reporting, including validation of outputs before anything is shared externally with clients or executives.
-
Leverage Technology & AI:
- Incorporate AI-assisted workflows into day-to-day analytical work to streamline delivery and improve quality, in line with team standards.
-
Document As You Go:
- Maintain clear documentation of metric definitions, dataset one-pagers, and runbooks that allow others to easily follow and audit your work.
-
Provide Platform Administrative Support:
- Support the team's platform lead with verification of platform data against reporting, hands-on testing support during releases, and upkeep of related documentation
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ad-hoc data projects and data requests
- Assistance with client DDQs
- Be knowledgeable about all aspects of the student experience in order to respond to client data requests
What You'll Need To Succeed:
You love to help others. You're excited to be part of a purpose-driven organization. Working in a fast-paced environment energizes you. You go to work ready to solve problems and aren't surprised when they exist. You're flexible and can adapt to change. Other requirements include:
- Bachelor's Degree required: Data science, data analytics, business analytics, computer science, economics, statistics, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of SQL required, including the ability to write queries involving joins, aggregation, and filtering across multiple tables; experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake is a plus.
- Experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Sigma, Tableau, Power BI, or AWS QuickSight required; Sigma proficiency strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
- Experience incorporating AI-assisted workflows into day-to-day work, with comfort in prompt engineering to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and validation across systems, and an understanding that your numbers go in front of clients and senior leadership.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear, data-driven recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust style and tone for diverse audiences ranging from peers to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational habits, including clean file management and documentation practices that allow others to easily follow and audit your work.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and proactively escalate issues or scope concerns before they become time-sensitive.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with internal teams, who are often our clients, across all levels of the organization.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to work indoors in a climate-controlled environment
