Communications Engineering Intern

This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand knowledge in RF and communications engineering, while developing creative problem-solving, software, systems engineering, and technical skills.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Support the design, analysis, and testing of RF and communications systems

  • Assist with modeling, simulation, and performance evaluation of RF components and system-level architectures

  • Contribute to laboratory testing, data collection, and analysis of RF hardware or communication links

  • Help develop software tools, scripts, or automated workflows for RF analysis, test, and signal processing

  • Document technical findings, test results, and engineering recommendations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers in RF, signal processing, software, and systems engineering

  • Support trade studies and technical assessments related to RF performance, link budgets, or system requirements


Basic Qualifications:

  • Interest in communications engineering demonstrated through coursework or extracurricular involvement in RF communications, signal processing, or electromagnetic physics

  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance


  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance

  • Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience developing technical reports, presentations, and/or production-quality code

  • Experience with systems engineering processes for communication systems, including requirements development and review, verification and validation, end-to-end architecture analysis, and link budget analysis

  • Experience with agile software development and object-oriented programming, scripting, and/or simulation tools such as C/C++, Java, Python, or MATLAB

  • Experience with signal/waveform development

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and system-of-systems architecture frameworks such as Cameo/MSOSA

  • Experience with SDR platforms and RF test equipment such as USRP, spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, and channel emulators

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$46,500 - $58,000 - $69,500 Annual
