Position Summary
Childcare Network is seeking a dedicated, dependable, energetic, and experienced Lead Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
The ideal candidate must have education in Early Childhood Education, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to effectively implement curriculum while supporting the developmental needs of young children.
We are looking for a teacher who takes pride in their classroom, demonstrates professionalism, and is committed to maintaining the high standards of our 5-star childcare center.
Educational Requirements & Qualifications
Must have completed coursework in Early Childhood Education.
An Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
Candidates currently pursuing an Early Childhood Education degree may be considered based on completed coursework and qualifications.
EDU 119 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education) or an equivalent recognized credential is preferred.
Must meet North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) qualifications applicable to the Lead Teacher position.
Previous experience working in a licensed childcare facility is strongly preferred.
Must successfully complete required background checks.
Must maintain all required childcare training and certifications, including CPR and First Aid, as applicable.
Must be knowledgeable about child development, positive guidance, classroom supervision, and age-appropriate teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Classroom Instruction
Plan and implement daily lesson plans aligned with the center's approved curriculum.
Provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that support children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
Maintain daily classroom schedules and routines.
Complete classroom observations, developmental assessments, and documentation of children's learning.
Create developmentally appropriate activities that encourage creativity, independence, and school readiness.
Ensure learning centers, bulletin boards, and classroom displays are organized, current, and educational.
Classroom Management & Child Supervision
Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
Follow all North Carolina childcare licensing requirements and staff-to-child ratios.
Utilize positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management strategies.
Establish consistent classroom expectations and routines.
Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and positive interactions with children.
Remain actively engaged with children throughout the day rather than sitting or remaining in one location for extended periods.
Ensure children's safety during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and transitions.
Classroom Cleanliness & Organization
Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and grand-opening-ready classroom daily.
Complete and maintain required daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
Sweep, sanitize, and mop classroom floors daily according to center procedures.
Remove classroom trash during designated times, including lunchtime, to help prevent odors.
Sanitize toys, tables, learning materials, and frequently touched surfaces.
Ensure classroom supplies and learning materials are properly organized and readily available.
Follow all health, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Leadership & Teamwork
Provide guidance and direction to Assistant Teachers assigned to the classroom.
Communicate effectively with the Director and Assistant Director.
Ensure all classroom staff consistently follow center policies and procedures.
Demonstrate leadership, accountability, reliability, and professionalism.
Attend required staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training.
Support center-wide initiatives, quality improvement goals, and licensing compliance.
