Visitor Services & Marketing Communications Intern

Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) is seeking an energetic, creative intern to support our Marketing & Communications and Visitor Services team. This position offers hands-on experience in social media, content creation, destination marketing, website content and visitor services. The ideal candidate is passionate about social media, strong writing and storytelling, great customer service, interested in tourism and enjoys creating content that inspires people to explore Montgomery County. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing & Communications • Create and distribute content including social media posts, blogs, photos and videos. • Assist with social media campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. • Contribute to editorial calendars and brainstorm creative content ideas. • Write and edit website, blog, publication and marketing content. • Update and create web pages within the CMS. • Research social media and marketing trends to help elevate the VFTCB brand. • Track social engagement and identify high-performing content and campaigns. • Research and communicate with potential social media influencers. • Support marketing campaigns, events, public relations and other communications projects. • Assist with special projects, FAM tours and on-site activations across VFTCB departments. Visitor Services • Assist with Visitor Services at Valley Forge National Historical Park, including weekend events. Page 1 of 3 • Welcome visitors and provide helpful information about Montgomery County and the surrounding area. • Answer phones and email and provide light administrative support. • Maintain and organize visitor guides, brochures and other tourism materials. • Assist with brochure distribution to area businesses and locations throughout Montgomery County. • Coordinate with area businesses and event organizers on visitor materials and giveaways. • Capture photo and video content at Valley Forge National Historical Park for potential use on VFTCB platforms. • Provide input on ways to improve the visitor experience in Montgomery County. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate has: • A passion for social media, content creation and marketing. • Strong writing, communication and research skills. • Experience creating social media content for personal, academic or professional use preferred. • An interest in tourism and Montgomery County. • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Creativity and the ability to troubleshoot and find solutions. • Friendly, professional customer service skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Google Analytics experience is a plus. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS • Interest in Montgomery County’s history, attractions, dining, shopping, outdoor recreation and cultural experiences. • Comfortable working in a fun, fast-paced tourism environment. • Strong computer and internet research skills. • Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, partners and internal teams. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with managers, clients, customers and the public. Strong writing and editing skills required. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems, manage multiple priorities and interpret written, oral and schedule-based instructions. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to meet the typical physical and emotional demands of a standard office and visitor services environment. May include occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. Position requires some weekday and weekend travel.
