Location: Reynoldsburg, OH

Hourly Rate: 2nd year – $18/hour / 3rd year – $19/hour

Date of Internship: May 17, 2027 – August 13, 2027

The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Legal Office is seeking a Legal Intern for Summer 2027. This position may have an opportunity to continue during the school year for up to 20 hours each week. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn Ohio’s Sunshine Laws to review & redact public records requests
  • Perform legal research & draft memorandum to find solutions to legal issues arising from ODA divisions
  • Learn fundamental skills for government attorneys:
    • Reviewing investigative work to determine if ODA has sufficient evidence to proceed to an Administrative Hearing 
    • Drafting Notices of Opportunity for Hearing
  • Observe administrative hearings & board meetings
  • Gain a better understanding of ODA’s work through observing meetings with each of ODA’s divisions & participating in ride-alongs when possible. 

Qualifications

  • The student must be a first- or second-year law student.
  • Must be in good standing at an accredited law school.
