Locations: Middle Schools - 6th to 8th grade (Mission and Rincon)

 

AVID tutors are actively enrolled undergraduate and graduate college students who mentor and tutor middle school students to help prepare them for college success. 

Under the general supervision of the AVID coordinator and the immediate supervision of the AVID elective teacher, AVID Tutors assist students in academic subjects in order to develop habits of mind and higher standards of academic achievement which will increase students postsecondary educational options upon high school graduation. AVID Tutors are are trained in the use of AVID strategies to enhance academic performance of targeted middle school students and serve as role models and mentors. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Actively enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university (will need to provide transcripts for verification)
