**Great Thinkers Learning Academy is growing our tutoring team!**

We are seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable **Math Tutors** who enjoy helping students understand challenging concepts, build confidence, and discover that they are capable of doing more than they thought they could.

Great Thinkers provides individualized tutoring for students from elementary school through high school. Our tutors work with students one-on-one or in small groups, creating instruction that is personalized to each student's academic needs, learning style, and goals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a **current college student, certified teacher, experienced tutor, retired educator, or math professional** who loves working with students and wants a flexible position.

## What You'll Do

* Provide individualized math instruction to students in grades 3–12* Help students understand concepts rather than simply memorize procedures* Identify areas of strength and areas needing additional support* Explain mathematical concepts in clear, age-appropriate ways* Help students develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills* Support students with homework, classwork, test preparation, and skill development* Adjust instruction to meet individual learning styles and needs* Build positive relationships with students and encourage academic confidence* Communicate professionally with Great Thinkers staff and, when appropriate, parents* Maintain brief notes regarding student progress and areas for continued practice* Create an encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions

## Students You May Work With

Depending on your experience and strengths, students may include those working on:

**Elementary Math**

* Number sense* Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division* Fractions, decimals, and percentages* Word problems* Geometry* Pre-algebra foundations

**Middle School Math**

* Ratios and proportions* Expressions and equations* Integers* Geometry* Pre-algebra* Algebra I foundations

**High School Math**

* Algebra I & II* Geometry* Precalculus* Trigonometry* ACT/SAT math preparation* Other advanced mathematics based on tutor expertise

## What We're Looking For

We are looking for tutors who are:

* Strong in mathematics* Patient, encouraging, and positive* Excellent communicators* Comfortable working with children and teenagers* Able to explain concepts in multiple ways* Dependable and professional* Comfortable adapting instruction to individual students* Passionate about helping students succeed

### Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree is **preferred but not required for every position**.

* Current college students with strong mathematics skills* Mathematics majors* Education majors* Engineering and STEM majors* Certified teachers* Current classroom teachers* Retired teachers* Experienced private tutors* Professionals with strong mathematics backgrounds

Prior tutoring or teaching experience is strongly preferred.

## Schedule

Tutoring opportunities may include:

Tutors may be able to build a schedule around **school, another job, family responsibilities, or other commitments.**

## Compensation

**Competitive hourly pay based on education, experience, subject expertise, and level of instruction.**

Higher compensation may be available for tutors with teaching certifications, advanced mathematics expertise, or significant tutoring experience.
